2005 loosing power@ higher RPMs 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I have an '05 Roadstar Midnight, owned it since 0 miles... it's at about 3400 mi. now... I have the V&H Longshots and a Barons Big air Kit with K&N filter and swapped out the pulley for a 32 tooth.

The bike runs OK (not great or normal) when i first start off, but when i go to give it gas to speed up it will bog out and start loosing power. it kinda feels like i got something stuck in my pipes. if i pull out the Choke she'll run a bit better but as soon as i want to power up to get some speed it will bog out and i need to decelerate to get it to respond again. I got on the gas this morning and starting out is OK, i tried WOT and it bogged out and died, some backfiring. seems to flood out if i twist it to much. What could this be?
it's been sitting for a about 2 years, the fuel is fresh and i Seafoamed her but no difference.
i haven't changed the oil, Filter, Plugs or removed the AIS.

i'm not diagnosticlly inclined but i can remove and swap out parts as needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your elevation is 90 ft above sea level do you know what your jetting is? Guess you can't take the AIS off because you in CA. That really sucks but guess your stuck with it. I good dose of Ring Free will help and you should download my SVS cure. My 05 got a bad case of SVS at 3000 miles and it too me forever to get rid of it until I did my cure it would come back every 1000 miles.

Would it really matter if i remove the AIS in Cali? I'm figuring it's required for the sale not the rider, right? once i paid for it i can do whatever i want....

A 2005 with 3400 miles and hasn't been run in 2 years? Sounds like your carb is gunked up. Your description sounds like it is running really lean on anything but idle. Ring Free will help melt the crap that is clogging the jets and may get it running right without pulling the carb apart. Dose the tank and ride slowly around the neighborhood til the carb has treated gas inside it, or drain and refill the carb. Let it sit for a day or so, then take her for a ride and, if it seems better, run the heck out of it.

And since you live in California, no you can't do whatever you want. Actually, by the letter of the law, none of us should be pulling the AIS. If you do pull it, keep it. You never know when Cali will crack down on motorcycles, like they have autos.

For sitting that long, I don't think any gas treatment would work, you might be best to remove the carb and give it a soaking in carb cleaner. Might even need to use very thin wire pokers to clean all the passages in the pilot jet too. Trying to take the easy way out with a additive that might not work will only cause 2nd guesses of something other than it could be a carb issue. However, if you know the carb has been thoroughly cleaned, and if still issues, at least you know more than likely it would be something other than the carb. When that gas dries out, it's like a shellac, and hard as nails.
