2008 Roadstar AIS question 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I sold my '07 Road* Silverado and got me an '08 Road* Silverado (pictures will be posted soon). Got some vance and hines pipes and like everyone else I got a lot of popping. I've read all the threads regarding the removal kit but rather than waiting on a removal kit, I just removed the black hose from the chrome pipe, put a golf tee in the chrome pipe and then put the black hose back on. I did this with both hoses. Went on a ride and had no more popping plus much better throttle response. Awesome ride today!

What's the advantage of installing the removal kit other than the looks of not having all that plumbing up there? Are there any mechanical/electrical issues with simply using something to block the hoses?

okie:

Mainly aethetics at that point. Really cleans up the motor when you remove all that stuff...

You do need to pull the electrical connector if you're not using the AIS, though. I'm not sure when happens when it tries to supply air and it's completely plugged.

The pipes collect water sometimes when they are blocked. I just simply wrapped one end of the pipe back onto the other pipe. The reason why I ordered a block off kit is because of the water, and it cleans it up.

Haven't gotten around to putting the block off kit on as I'm working on a trailer.

Anyway, disabling the ais solved the popping problem completely.

I put the block off kit on my 08*. Simply because it cleaned up the engine. I done the golf tee first and it worked just as good. I ordered the chrome starter cover and the aid kit came with it. So I just put it on. Took all of about 5 minutes to do...

Well I kinda like that junk out of the way to air to cool the front jug a tad bit more. But I do like all the piping gone from the right side. . .I'm just saying

I'll go ahead and order the removal kit sometime but I'm in no hurry since blocking the tubes works. I don't mind how it looks stock. I guess I never even really noticed it.
