check engine light 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I was wondering if somebody could help me out with a check engine light?
I have a 2001 R* the light comes on when i start it and stays on . The light will go off if i idle it down low, then after a while it will come back on. My oil level is good. I dont know where to start checking.

I have an '01 as well. . .my engine light only comes on with the key. . .but there's a sequence of blinking. . . .i.e I believe 8 blinks is a bad gas gauge but not sure. . . .I don't know if there's a sypher for them but someone will chime in for you. . .But if you think it's oil. . .when was your last change? What Viscosity? Did you change your own oil? How many qts? (no more than 4) How cold is it? Has it done this for ever? etc.. . . .

Re:check engine light 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I have about 1500 miles on this oil change. I use a 10/40 slightly under 4 quarts. My light never flashes it just stays on hot or cold. If i idle it down very low it shuts off its been doing this for a few months now. I did add a light bar But, I cant find anything wrong with the charging system. I tried to reset by disconnecting my battery to see if i can get some kind of code. When turn the key on i get a light and then it goes out, then i start it and it lights up again and stays on. I dont know what to make of it
