Speedometer Question 1 Year, 6 Months ago
Went for a ride this morning with a friend who has an 03 HD Ultra. We stopped and gased up together and reset our odometers. When we returned home my 03 R* showed 7 more miles than his HD. I haven't checked it against a GPS. My 03 is stock as is his HD. My 03 has 7,000 miles, his HD 30,000+. Any ideas??

Thanks in advance!!

Our speedometers aren't accurate anyway. So I guess that means the milage is off too

I know for a fact that my speedometer is off by at least 10% and the odometer is as well. I checked and verified with three GPS units, and the oldest way I know how. Pull up next to a mile marker and zero out one of your trip meters and drive it 50 miles. When you pull up next to the 50th mile marker read your trip meter and that will tell you the truth about the odometer. That is why we get unlimited mileage on out warranties but they restrict it to one year. My speedometer must indicate 77mph to be a true actual 70 mph.

Thanks for the input! I'll check it against my GPS, when I get it mounted. My round trip mileage showed 87 miles, so it may be close to 10% off.

Having the speedo off is a minor concern to me. Not being able to ride now (winter weather) sucks.

Update on the speedometer. Went for a 200 mile ride today, stared out early, nice and cool about 50 degrees (sorry northern members). I had my GPS mounted and it appears the speedometer is off five mph at all speeds.
