Hello to all any input will be appreciated.
I ride an ALL STOCK 2005 Midnight Roadstar, had it since June of '05 has about 1,000 mi. in So. Cal L.A. area.

I was thinking of adding the following as mi first mods to my R*:
1) V&H Longshots - Road Star/1700
2) Pro-R Hypercharger ('99-'05 R*) Kuryakyn
3) Jet Kit for Hypercharger Kuryakyn
Total about $800 plus $300 to $400 in instalation from dealer.

Do you guys think this would be a good start?
Do you guys have any other suggestions on where to start?

yogez,

Baron's BAK air intake/filter and jet kit...one of best flowing air intakes available.

Yamaha Speedstar or Baron's ported intake manifold.

Yamaha 31 tooth drive pulley.

A good set of 2 into 1 exhaust pipes like Roadhouse.

You will think you got a new bike!

Good luck and ride safe!

Thaks for the reply, I will look into the Baron's product. i have looked at 2 into 1 exhaust but have decided on 2 seperate flowing ones, i will also look into the Roadhouse. what kind of sound do these have?
I am looking for pipes that woukld make my bike sound like what it has, "BALLS".... I know the power is ther i just want to hear it, i also believe in " Loud Pipes Save Lives"
i've never work on a bike and will not be working on my new bike anytime soon, the dealer has many recomendation but i take those with a grain of salt as thier motives are diffrent then mines.

Hi Yogez,

I have V&H long shots, ported manifold, 31 tooth pulley, jetted stock card and BAK air product. All goes sweet together and have done for over 2yrs!!!! Pipes are really loud and have loads of "balls".

However, changing to short pipes as they ground out a bit even with replacement shock spring. And they also cloud the rear wheel etc.

Still, I have been happy with the increase in performance, but have plans for winter re-bore and head work etc, so will be changing to 45mm carb, upgrage BAK air intake and new pipes.

Good luck and ride safe

Thanks, you just gave me something to think about. I wouldn't want to spend the monyey on new pipes then have them get scraped up on turns.
I like the Pulley suggestion, but is that also good for long freeway riding?
Ported intake is a good idea as well.
In which order should I be Modifying the bike?

Post edited by: yogez, at: 2006/02/15 14:35

yogez,

For an engine to run right you should do exhaust, intake/jets and air filter all at once...then...31 tooth pulley. The 31 tooth pulley is just fine for freeway riding speeds...just gets you there quicker!

Good luck and ride safe!

I run V&H Longshots and love'em. The Longshots works well with the long stride of the bike. Also run Torque cones, they create a louder thump from the Longshots. Also installed a Hypercharger for the increased air intake. Rejetted to 180/40 on the stock carb. AIS removed, all runs real sweet together. Paul
