Question for Docshadow 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Hey Doc, a couple of questions, went to your web site and love the look of your bike
I see your running r1 caliper is that front and rear or just front and does the year matter i have a 2000* with aftermarket wheels and rotors.
i also see you have raked trees, did the handling change much, how much is the rear lowered and how much were the forks extended
The trees are my next project, just finished the 240 and custom wheels

Thanks
Scott

Up front I have a front R1 caliper from a 2000 R1. You can run an R1 or R6 (or stock 1700); they are all 4 piston, or a YZF750 which is a 6 piston. The 6 piston is hard to find and very expensive. On the rear you already have a 4 piston so it's not worth changing out.

You can also use an R1/6 rotor but you can't use the newer ones as the bolt pattern is different. I think they changed about 2003-04.

The raked trees will increase the response inputs to steering so it becomes a bit more squirrelly. You will need to lower the rear or raise the front to bring the rake back to stock. You can also rake the neck 6* to bring it back to stock. I left the neck stock but went 4+ on the forks so my rake is very similar to stock.
