yes the 42 will fit in a stock manifold. But isn't yours ported with the big bore kit? It will fit either way. What is your jetting?

Re:hard to start 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
one would think so i have not taken it off but it still has a stock carby on it so the manifold must be stock,
according to the carby when i pulled it down and changed the needle and seat it has a 200 main jet,
i have a set of open sharp shooter pipes and a completely open round k&n filter that is ment for a 350 holly
that i made a backing plate for, it works great and looks awesome, when i first got the bike the bloke that owned it
just had it to say he had a bike, along with the boats, cars and other stuff he had collecting dust, he didn't even have a license so it didnt get ridden much, only when he thort he wouldn't get court, but he told me he took it to some great mechanic that sorted it out real good. apparently real good means a 200 main jet with a stock air cleaner and stock pipes, when a 165 or there abouts main would have been correct.
so i put the pipes and air cleaner on it it now runs awesome,

just on occasions it wont start like i would like.

i want more power any how so i was looking at maybe an s&s supper e or g, but carnt find a manifold for the conversion,

i did how ever find a supercharger but my wife wont let me spend the 4 grand on it,

you will have to find or make acustom manifold for the s&s carbs. The hsr 42 or 45 is definately the way to go for these bikes.
One of the carb gurus will check on your jetting hopefully

By installing a Mikuni HSR42 you will only gain 6-10% more hp for what $325.00 add a few internals parts,a good aftermarket breather and maybe you would be okay add a 31 tooth front pulley ride it, jetting and the HSR42 is easier on changing main jets also the HSR42 does away with the stock fuel pump.

remove the 200 main jet and add a #195 mikuni main jet, if still to rich install the #190 mikuni main jet. my bet is the 190 #4 groove if still to lean go to the 5th... install a #37.5 or a 40 pilot jet for an open aftermartket breather, adjust pms out 2.75- 3.0 turns from lightly seated.

ride it like you stole it...........

Re:hard to start 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
man i tried all jetting scenerios on the stock CV40 Carby on my 1700 #195 main jet had the power but for the 1600 the #190 mikuni might be better, But rule that out....before you step up to the #195 mikuni main...

remember this on a open aftermarket breather you need to up the pilot jet 1-2 sizes up because FREE'ER BREATHING....

I'm positive the #200 is way to rich....
