Hello, I just bought this roadstar and the fella I bought it from said that there is a performance igniton on the bike. Where do I look for it to see if this is true ?

Hi wayne, welcome,, goto the homepage and you will see an artical on how to install a dyna 3000...which is a HP ignition

Welcome, Wayne! It's behind your left (clutch side) side cover...once you do, you have to remove a few screws and move the fusebox to get to it. Whe I changed mine out, I took out the battery box, too, to give my big hands some room. Yamaha really wedged it in there...

Welcome.

Yep. What Flashback said.

SpeedStar is the name that Yamaha uses for its high performance accessory line. Dyna is the one with the red dip switch panel in the side.

If your bike is otherwise stock, its hard to say what exactly having a high performance module would do for you. It won't give off a hotter spark or anything like that. It is called "high performance" because it allows you to modify carb settings, change carbs, install high performance engine components like: pistons, cams, and such. It will also allow you to change the rev-limit.
