10-40 or 20-50 amsoil? 1 Year, 2 Months ago
I have been running 10-40 amsoil, because the mechanic said that the top number is the best number to go by. But I have heard many people using 20-50, so now I don't know what is better to use? Any suggestions?

If you live in the North then 10W40 is good for this time of the year. If you live in the South then you want 20W50.

I assume both oils are MC equivalent oil.

Welcome aboard bigbad Both oils are MC rated . I use the amsoil 20/50
here in KY all year and it does fine. It's your choice though.
The great oil debate hits again

I put the 10-40 Amsoil in back in sept.. Its good oil and the engine likes it.. if next summer is as hot as this last one, I probably will use 20-50..
