The job takes longer to get the floorboards off than it does to pull the clutch...

I'm betting you're going to find that that squeaking may be the clutch plates. Have a nice new set ready...

no smokes...it only scrapes when i am riding..and im sure its not the brake..makes a loud scrape in one certain spot and its constant with the rpm no matter what gear its in,but 3rd really sounds loud.. somabitch im gonna find the problem whatever it takes..i will be doing so next week when i can order all the stuff thats going into the bike this time around.. thanks for the input guys..

i am seeing that some clutch plates specify no synthetic oil... wow !!!

They can't be Yamaha plates then which over time have proven to be the best choice mainly because I don't remember anyone actually wearing out the factory clutch plates. Or maybe I just missed that post.
