Bleeding the brake lines 2 Years, 12 Months ago
guys, I have to change my brake line on the front brakes just to where it splits. I put on some beach bars and my oilline was not long enough. Can you tell me the best way to do this? I've always just used gravity, but is there a better way?

Thanks

Tony,

The splitter has a way of trapping the air. If you're going to use gravity, the cheap way , it helps to lightly tap the splitter to ensure the bubbles are getting through.

The other problem is the MC. I found the best way is to depress the lever half-way while watching the small hole at the bottom of the MC. You'll see small bubbles coming out while you do this. Keeping depress the lever and letting it go and sometimes taping the joint with the plastic end of a screwdriver to get most of the air out.

It helps if you have a brake bleader (I'm too cheap ). You can also use an oil can attached to the caliper nipple and pump the fluid up through the MC.

alabama,

If you did not disconnect any portion of the brake system when you changed the tire then it's not the hydralics.

Did you take the discs off? If so, did you put them back on the same sides?
