forgot, the pad thickness is different between 99-03,and 04-up.
99-03=6.0mm(0.24)in.
04-up=5.5mm(0.22)in Hope this helps.

Naw flashback, avn is trying using a single disk instead of the duel
The 04 and up are a bit larger I believe. and the 04 up uses a floating disk vs fixed . Your fine
If I'm wrong here flash correct me.

Tnx everybody for the help! As for the front brake effenciency, I didn't experienced binding. I looked at different Road Star year/models, and some canadian model (spoke wheel)uses fixed rotor/disc combo. So, I doubt an average rider like me will notice the difference. I think however I"ll switch the master cylinder for a Warrior unit....

I also have a front brake question and didn't know the best way to ask it, so thought I would try here. I have a 2001 Roadie I want to change into a bobber. I want to remove the right side disk rotor and caliper to clean up that side. Does anyone know what that will do for the feel of the brake lever and how it will effect braking? Do I need to change the brake cylinder? I read the article about braking surface and cylinder size and it didn't help.
Thanks.

Removal of the one of the stock brakes from a 1600 results in unacceptable ( IMHO) braking ability.
I tried:
- stock single setup
- stock single setup with SS line
- R1 caliper with SS line
- R1 caliper and R1 rotor with SS line
- R1 caliper, R1 rotor, Warrior MC with SS line
The second last setup is almost equivalent to the stock dual setup and the last is a bit better. I can lock up my front end at 20 mph (don't want to try it at a higher speed. )
