Agggh About had it with this windshield :( 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Okay guys, tell me what I'm doing wrong here. My 08 Roadstar Silverado came with what I assume is the medium windshield. I swear no matter what I do. Tilt fwd, tilt back, Raise it, Lower it. With the Lowers installed I still get slapped in the forehead with such turbulent airflow that it gives me a headache and distorts my vision. I like to cruise on the highway about about 70. (so as not to get run over)

I can look down a bit and look through the shield but if I sit correctly my vision is just over the top of the shield.

I am so tempted to replace the shield with a batwing but where talking at least $450 plus and I've heard mixed reviews where some say it's way better than the windshield or exactly the same. I really don't want to drop cash like that and the first ride feels the same.

Is it just the design of the OEM shield? I'm 5'11. Inseam at 30.

Appreciate any advice you might have.

Again I do have the lowers on and they certainly cut all the wind coming up from below. I can reach just a little over my helmet and feel very turbulent airflow.

-Brian.

I'm 6ft with 33in inseam. I have the tall silverado and look just over the top edge of it. No problems for me, maybe you should try a tall. Check out www.ceebaileys.com for a replacement. Personally I'm planning on going to a fairing, just trying to decide on a Harley (to be able to add gauges) or the Reckless for simple bolt on. Btw if your thinking of a fairing you can pick up a primered or black gelcoat Reckless for $300-350

Mine is about even with my chin so i'm looking completely over it and yes I get some turbulence and wind in my face but it blocks the wind off of my body so long rides are not as tireing also no lowers. either get a smaller or taller wind shield

My shield is parallel with my front fork legs and the top of the shield is between my eye and nose.
I get no turbulence on my head.

You can replace just the plexi windshield and keep all the hardware for it.

I have the tall silverado w/s and I do get occasional buffeting, but that seems to be related to higher winds and thier direction.

@Gram - OEM lowers.

So when you say the shield is between your eye and nose. How far is the car in front of you that you can see it without looking through the shield. I don't know exactly how far out in front of my vision should I see above the shield. Maybe mine is not quite tall enough. When I mount the shield on the other adjustment its way too high then and looks retarded.

I recall reading once that you should mark a spot about 50ft in front of you and should be able to see it just above your shield.

I too have the tall windshield, and with a good set of lowers,
the buffeting goes away for the most part.
A side wind sometimes causes some buffeting.

I never look through my windshield. I can run into the rearend of a car and see the taillight and never look through the shield. I am always looking over it. The angle and height works for me.
