@Gram - OEM lowers.

So when you say the shield is between your eye and nose. How far is the car in front of you that you can see it without looking through the shield. I don't know exactly how far out in front of my vision should I see above the shield. Maybe mine is not quite tall enough. When I mount the shield on the other adjustment its way too high then and looks retarded.

I recall reading once that you should mark a spot about 50ft in front of you and should be able to see it just above your shield.

Before you make any costly changes, replace those lowers. They totally suck, and they don't help with head buffeting at all. I used to use them.

Talk to Curt about getting a set of his. They are way way better.

Another thing that helps is to remove the little shield that is at the bottom of the shield and curves around the headlight. You can just take it off. If you really want to leave it on, move it up so that there is a fairly large gap between the headlight and that little shield.

Follow Grams' advice. I have a set of Curts' lowers and I removed the piece above the headlight. I stll get a bit of wind but nothing like it was. My beard would beat me on my face and my chest could feel every little burst, but no more.

I'm in a similar boat as you. I'm 6' with a 30" inseam, so I have a long torso which makes me sit tall in the saddle. I have the Memphis shades batwing with their 9" windshield and I have the same problem. If I slouch down, it helps, but that gets pretty uncomfortable. They do make a 12" shield which I'm tempted to try.

Just curious, but what seat are you using? I've been using the late model stock seat with a Walmart gel pad under the cover; and while it's more comfortable, it makes me sit even higher, which only makes matters worse. I just ordered an Erdody seat and I'm hoping it will lower me some and get me behind the windshield more, as well as make my butt happier of course. Just something to consider.

Thanks for all the feedback fella's. Should the top of the windshield be exactly parallel with basically just below my eyes? Like should I be able to draw a straight line from just below my eyes and have it intersect with the top of the shield? Right now when I look at a car out in front of me a good 50ft I can see it just over the top of the shield. Now if I pull up close behind it then I'd have to look down through the shield to see the car (that is if I was right up to it in traffic at a light for example).

I had NO IDEA about that piece that fits over the headlight. I always tried to adjust that so it was as close to the headlight as possible. By removing that it actually helps? Cool.

yeah the lowers are OEM but I have a set that I made myself based similarly to Curt's design. I should probably just get a set of Curt's though. I didn't suspect that my oem lowers were the issue because with my hand I cannot really feel much air from below. Without the lowers I get hit in the chest and collar. Its only over my head that I feel all the turbulence. I love riding this bike. In fact the weather was so nice that I rode the bike ALL WEEK back and forth to work which is a little over 40 miles round trip. All highway though. I would so enjoy it much more if I could just see clearly.

Doc_V - DO you have lowers on your bat wing? Now I have heard that does make a night and day difference for sure on the batwings. BTW I have the stock seat. I was thinking the same thing too that an aftermarket might lower me down in the saddle a little bit and then I wouldn't need a taller windshield.

Thanks again everyone for the feedback.

I don't know about the piece over the headlight I'll have to try that . but according to the manufacturers the top of the wind shield is supposed to be even with the tip of your nose

I'm 6ft with 33in inseam. I have the tall silverado and look just over the top edge of it. No problems for me, maybe you should try a tall. Check out www.ceebaileys.com for a replacement. Personally I'm planning on going to a fairing, just trying to decide on a Harley (to be able to add gauges) or the Reckless for simple bolt on. Btw if your thinking of a fairing you can pick up a primered or black gelcoat Reckless for $300-350

Thanks for the baileys link.

I tried the Harley chrome lowers, because the stock lowers don't work with the MS mount, but it made little difference.

Here's a video that should offer some insight on how to properly measure your windshield.
