If you've been as far as the manifold, the insides of the
carb shouldn't pose any trouble at all. It is to easy to get rid of the pump. It really is an uncomplicated procedure. The Tech Articles, and search feature here alone can get you through. The bonus of having live help here on the forum, makes this a relatively easy thing to accomplish.
I did the suzi 2.5 needle and seat, and reset the float level while I was in there, to the 04 and later spec. I installed a fuel filter in the line after it turns down from the petcock(I used one of the factory formed right angle hoses from the pump assembly, to turn down), and vented the cap.
I was running just fine when I filled up yesterday, after the fuel light had been on for about four or five miles already, without switching to the reserve. The inline fuel filter vertically oriented, seems to stop the stumbling issues as the tank gets closer to empty. Air bubbles in the line, are given a chance to get out of the flow, and return to the tank(that's the theory anyway

).
"The Girl's" look just fine by the way.
