Stratoliner rear wheel 1 Year, 2 Months ago
It seems that everyone who talks about putting a rear liner wheel on a Roadie disappears from the board without explaining if or how they did it. So I am trying to think it through.
I have an '01 Roadie. The measurement (width) from the outer edge of the liner rear pulley to the outer edge of the rotor is 3/4" wider then my stock '01 wheel. So I'm guessing that to center the wheel I'll need to move the caliper to the outside 3/8" (half the difference of the 2 wheels). SO, here's the question. I'm thinking that I will need to replace my front and rear belt pulleys with ones from an 1700 Roadie, which is about 1/4" narrower then my 1600 in order to make up most of the 3/8" in wheel width.
Am I thinking correct?
Thanks
Vic

http://roadstarclinic.com/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,187/func,view/id,463179/catid,14/ i think your pretty close. you still need to machine some off the left side, mortVic1 wrote:

thanks
I knew about cutting the hub down a bit. I was concerned about the new pulleys as I have not seen any post speak to it

Vic1 if you figure it out, let me know! I've got an almost brand new liner rear wheel, complete with rotor pulley hub and all. I pulled the stock rear (04 Silverado, cast wheels) and placed the Liner wheel in the swing arm, and there's just no room. I put my roadstar pulley and hub on the Liner wheel and took the rotor cover off the Liner wheel, that helped, but not enough.
It's getting too hot to be taking the back wheel off my bike, when I should be riding anyway, and try to work out the measurements and fitment. If someone could tell me exactly what I need to do, I'm game! Otherwise it's a project that will have to wait til winter

What exactly was the problem?
You used the narrow pulleys,right?
Did you cut down the end of the hub?
I am just trying to sort through all this. The actual work will be weeks away
Thanks

Should be similar to the Raider which has a wider rear wheel.

Have you seen this link below? BSG has an 05 Roadstar that he put the Raider wheels on.

Edit:

Oh, and here's some discussion on tire sizes for the rear liner wheel:

Re:Stratoliner rear wheel 1 Year, 1 Month ago
I didn't cut down anything. I simply put the Liner into the swingarm. The problem is clearance and getting everything centered and lined up correctly. I'm not sure but I believe the lower swingarm may need some modification similar to the link roadiemort posted. I dont think it is going to be much like the raider swap, which is lacking some details. But the rear fender will not need to be widened. My plan over the summer is to buy a used swing arm, pulley, and cush drive and use those to get the fit right. I don't want to screw up my Liner assembly or my bike or its wheel.

I think the simplest solution is going to be machining the cush drive to fit the pulley closer to the wheel, but then you may lose the weights inside?
