looney's brake stay 1 Year ago
Hi. i have a 2000 roadstar... is Looney's brake stay (75$) a replacement for the stock one? i.e., can I mount the new stay to my bike with the stock caliper, rotor, etc.?

pretty sure it wont work with the stock rims. the hole in the middle slides over the wheel spacer for the aftermarket wheels

The short answer is NO.
The caliper will fit. BUT the distance between the hole that the axle sits and the caliper in is shorter in the Looneys. I'm guessing that Loooney's is designed for a smaller diameter rotor then the stock Roadstar. Also the Roadstar mount serves as a 1" spacer. Looney's is 1/4", so you will need a spacer if you are running a stock wheel.
With all that said, if you want to play with one
I'll sell you my Looney brake stay, never mounted, for $65 including shipping

OK. thanks for the info. I was wondering if it would be as easy as I'd hoped. I have the new 180 tire (5.5" rim still not delivered) and when I put the tire in there it looks like it might still rub on brake stay. I already ground it so it's even but might have to grind more. Thanks for offer and I might be back in touch.

Let us know how it works out. I'm running a 160 on the rear of my '00, but I'd like to bump-up to a 180 next time around.
