FYI ....... A dremel Tool might speed up the process. I'll have to cut mine back, I had the chrome bug hit me and bought a knob cover. Thanks for the great info!

Just make sure you go around the shaft and not through it

And you're welcome

Be carefull how far back you cut it, cause each time you do it, there is less rod in the plastic...other than that,, looks like a good fix...

I think if you have to take enough off to cause the knob to come off you probably need a new cable anyway. I held the shaft with a pair of needle nose and tugged and twisted on the knob pretty good and it didn't budge.

Took a closer look at this today on my scoot, seems like a simple , yet sensible repair. Good find Musky. BB

Thanks BB

Just start out slow. Take a little off at first and see if the knob still goes all the way in. If it does take a little more off. And so on. I wish now I would of recorded how my bike sounded before and after. Huge difference.

Let me guess, it went from a "labored" idle, back to a nice "smooth" idle. BB

You got that right But it's also all the way through the gears and way better after it gets warmed up. I hope it helps others the way it helped mine.
It's gonna really suck if we've been going through all these jetting gyrations and it turns out to be a dang choke cable.

You could start your own jetting company. Just mail out 1 fresh razor blade, with instructions: $$39.99. BB
