Another AIS question 4 Years, 6 Months ago
|
|
Got an 07 Midnight Star 1700 that I want to try the AIS bypass on to see the affect. I've searched the forums and haven't found what should be done with the larger hose that comes out & up from the front of the AIS pump. It's not the vacum line or one of the main lines.
Can someone point me to a thread that covers this or let me know if/what should be done with this 4th hose?
THANKS!!!

To disable the AIS pull the vacuum hose off, either at the AIS side or the maniflod side. Plug the AIS vacuum line with a golf tee and if you have pulled it off the manifold, put a rubber cap on the manifold nipple....Coug

Geez... I don't know if it's a CA model or not.
Looks like the #5 hose in your diagram is in the right general location, mine doesn't run up that far. It's only about 3 or 4 inches that goes from the pump (where all the other hoses connect) up to another contraption just above the pump.
THANKS!!

firstly there is no actual "pump"
air is "sucked" in to and by the exhaust manifolds... not pumped in
and AIS stands for Air Induction System according to Yamaha
http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/technology/technology.php?group=M&tech=AIS
who makes up these definitions???
if it is the hose goin from the valve to the hose connection assembly
which is about 3 in long ..nothing is done...

Since the vacuum hose is connected to a vacuum shut off switch I am assuming when the vacuum is on... the switch is open and upon decel the switch closes ????when vacuum is off
So plugging and unhooking the vacuum line closes the vacuum switch... cutting off the air supply to the AIS manifold lines...

Taking it off was the single best thing I have done to get better performance.Runs better ,cooler. Not to mention the sound with the baffels out .Just keep it all together.Looks much better also.-----later
