So I found out today while at the dealer that my bike has not had the recall fixed. The service guy then informed me that with the recall I could add high comp piston, heads, and valve springs, and any other engine mods I would like for only the cost of the parts. The service guy said they use to be able to get a speed star setup that included all of the parts for the mods. My question is what is the advantage / disadvantages of doing the high comp pistons and other stuff.
In all reality, High Compression pistons and better springs do nothing for these bikes, without a better carb
, a better set of CAMS and better intake, Head porting/smoothing work and Exhaust pipes.
You'll get *MUCH* better bang by porting your intake, getting a BAK
and full exhaust and tuning your Carb. About the same cost as the HC
Pistons and the springs and work cost, especially if you get a low cost BAK you can learn about here.
HC pistons have a history in these bikes of "slapping" with the looser tolerances they typically have.
