Really great replies! My only addition...
If I couldn't tinker with my bike then I've lost 50% of the reason for having it. If I don't have a project planned on my bike or tractor or truck or whatever then I just ain't happy. I will say that I've slowed the tinkering down a bit over the years but not completely. I still have the Barnett clutch and Progressive front springs in a box that need to get done. But most every other 'mod' in the tech section has been done... and she does run good!

BigBoy I agree fully. I finally got mine the way I want but I still do manifolds and lowers so that keeps me busy. I have my boat now in place of the second bike and I'm back into fishing. But it's your bike do what punches your buttons and enjoy it.

Well said... the mods I do and have done are because I can... and want to... some of them were from need, like the charging system, but most are because I wanted it that way... don't fix what ain't broke...

I think that part of being a Guru...is the wisdom to step back and say what I am hearing from Erbman...I take this wisdom gratefully and take comfort in your words cause I really like this bike and while I would like to make changes...to make it "mine" I must admit I was getting stressed at the possibility of have to enter the forbidden world of carbs and deal with bowls and jets etc. etc. ....good to know..I can just ride my bike and if it works...then just ride.....Thank you

Thanks for the shot of reality Erbman. Having mileage issues right now but it's under warranty and runs good otherwise. The Midwest M&G is only a month away so I'll concentrate on packing instead of wrenching.

My mileage is down right now too, I think we are still on "Winter" blend gas up here.

My only opinions about MODS is if someone has found something that works and improves on stock, like Ultimate seats, progressive springs, darkside tire I say go for it, but engine mods for the sake of fixing something that's not broke, yeah, don't do it. Some would say, if it's not broke, keep fixing it until it is.
