Dumb question time. Have all of you done this because you've stretched your choke cables at one time or another, or have some of you never tinkered with the choke/ carb but still found this to help some rough idling, gas fumes, etc.?
("never tinkered with the choke/carb" - am I kidding??)
Thanks guys.

I did it because of the stretch. But I would be curious to see if it helps on a cable that hasn't been touched. Hell. Yami uses 2 Nissan car plug wires and 2 Nissan truck plug wires on the bike. Who knows if the choke cable was even made for the BSR 40 carb.

Yes, I accidentally played tug of war with mine some time ago. Wish Gram would have brought this up , oh.......about 6 months ago , so Musky would have designed the MCF back then. Oh well, better late than never. BB

You had me going for a second there. I thought Gram had made it a blue letter thing.

Y'know, my bike's only gone a few hundred miles in the past couple of months (I don't get out much ), but it seems like it doesn't have a real smooth idle. It seems to hesitate every now and again, if that's a good way to put it. You get the " po ta to" thing going, then it skips a beat or two, then gets back into it. Not a real strong exhaust smell, but noticeable. Pulling out the choke and pushing it in does make a big difference in how the engine keeps going when it's still cold (in other words I can't start it with the choke pushed in). I'm thinkin though it would be worth it to cut a small slice anyway and see if the idle smooths out even more.
Musky, we really have Nissan plug cables on our bikes?

"Yepper" as Odo would say. He gave the part numbers to a buddy of his who works in a dealership and he looked them up.

I tried to read the replies in this forum but I missed the answer to the question of what to do with attaching the choke when you remove the fuel pump. I want to remove the fuel pump but can't decide how to attach the choke. Thanks.

I found the answer in another forum - 'Removing the fuel pump'. Just didn't look around enough before asking the question.

Well I got about 50 miles on Monday evening, and honestly have to say I did not see any difference. Starts the same, warms up the same, idles the same, runs pretty much the same as before the MCF. I will have to make this a longer term report when I get a chance to take a long ride and see if the mileage is better. I just makes sense that if the cable can move furhter that we are certain that it is getting fully open. I feel better even if my scooter does not notice the difference. This is one of those fixes that cannot hurt so why not do it to be sure.

Thanks CB
That's the kind of feedback I'm looking for. We need all sides and all results.
