Re:240 tire 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Nothing LOOKS better than a big ole fat back tire. But, the "pushing" you get in corners and around bends is a real drawback. I will say this, at some point in the future, I will look into a 200 series set up, which I've also had a chance to ride on, still look great, minimal resistance in the handling dept.

Note: if I were building a bike like Doc's or Gram's (raked front ends, lowered , Etc,Etc,Etc...) I wouldn't think twice about the 240, as it's part of the build, but for a daily driver...................

Just my opinion, BB

I think I understand what your saying "pushing" meaning that it is hard to lean the bike in the curves, the fat tire has a tendency to want to straighten up?

Yeah, and you really got to ride one to appreciate it. They don't want to lean. And since the contact patch is so much bigger , It turns something that should be natural, into a job. The one I rode was also a mild chop, so I'm certain that didn't help matters. The guy (close friend) got off mine, I handed his back, he Say's, looking at the Roadie, "like riding a Cadillac". I'm thinkng "your's is like one too, only a hearse"! One man's opinion though, to each his own. BB

Britt Motorsports has a 250 kit, I keep going to their site to look at his other parts, but his kit looks good, just a thought.http://www.brittmotorsports.com/shop/signature_catalog.htm

Ditto on BB's comments. I love the look but I would not put it on mine. I've been thinking about doing a 200 but I'll probably stay with a 180 ..... especially as you can't see the difference with my dragger rear fender and I'd have to get another rim.

Here's a way that Grey did it on the cheap ..... http://forums.delphiforums.com/theloon/messages/?start=Start+Reading+%3E%3E then search for post 265.1

Re:240 tire 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Hey sorry to hear about your misshap hope things are getting back to normal
I did a 240 on mine this spring, stock swing arm with brake mount removed. the real trick is the wheels you get and modifiying the hubs you go with a 1" belt no offset on the front pulley, i'm running the stock caliper on harley rotors took the stock fender cut it in half added 4" took the stock sub frame cut it in half and widened that so it all mounts the same. I haven't notice big differance in handling. I also went with 18" wheels. All i can say is that it is awesome . I can hook you up with the guy that did my brake mount and hubs. Your biggest cost will be the wheels$
