I run a HSR 42 but it's not the Maxair, any new style HSR 42 will work if jetted correctly without a pump.

Get it from Shane at SScustoms. He makes it set-up for most bikes that already has an air kit and after market pipes and it's I think 315 delivered. Max has set-up the pilot circuit out of spec as per the Mikuni tuning manual on a few riders that I know of, I can't understand how someone can set it out of spec when the specs are right in the book. I know my bike would not run properly with his pilot circuit settings.

How happy are you with carb setup how drivable is it and was it a pain the the A@@ to dial it in.?
What was all the parts you ordered from maxair for your setup?
My throttle cables are stock I have pullback risers and beach bars and my stock cables are short, can the ones from maxair be ordered longer?
Does the idle adjusted go in the stock location?
Thanks

The 42 is cake to dial it in. I ordered the TPS mod, Yost Power Tube, and Short Idle Adjust Knob. Also ordered the Maxair Choke Cable in +3 inches to relocate to the front of the tank. Ordered the Barnett Throttle cables based on reviews of others saying I needed them (I'm happy with them). Any cable from Maxair can be custom fitted for length.

Why does most people want to go pumpless when their fuel pump goes out?? I mean, anything could out go on the bike and leave you stranded, guess when their fuel pumps go out on their Vehicles everybody will go pumpless then to. My fuel pump when out in my pickup truck last year, left me on the road side as well, anyway, I carry a spare fuel pump, you guy's got me paranoid,

pumpless on these bikes just takes one more thing out of the equation. trying to go pumpless on your truck would be a pain. moving the fuel tank above the engine isnt easy.

as far as i know, gravity has never quit. im only 30 so maybe the ol timers around here can verify.

i am pumpless, it was the 1st thing i removed.

Re:Maxair Mikuni 42 Flat Slide HSR 11 Months, 4 Weeks ago
The only reason I went pumpless is because I had already moved the pump to the side cover with my stock carb and when I got my HSR42 most of the people were running pumpless, seemed like simple and a no brainer. I've ran over 5k and never had an issue. I did upgrade to a pingle petcock and pingle filter.
Actually the fuel pump going out is fairly rare you only hear about the few that do go out.
