I would guess it is fuels now days,I see the same problem with cars the fingers that rub across the board to measure resistance wear off all the time same way with the one in my bike, tried to adjust mine for better contact becuse they are worn off and now reads 1/4 tank when its empty and fuel like blinks when it shows full just need a new one just don't last forever its a moving wearing part

Replaced mine a few monthes back,Tried all sorts of adjustments but still cant get it to read an acurate gas count. Is there anything that it can be replaced with.I looked at the ones that you can get for a boat fuel tank but that would require a hole to be cut in the top of the tank.Dont think i want to go that way.

I put a 50 ohm 1/2w resistor in the connector, stops the blinking and reads 3/4 tank. The flashes were driving me nuts a night.

You could get a 1/2" square stick about a foot long with graduated marks on it and periodically stop & dip it in the the tank
Better yet - go by the odometer and fill up about every 150 miles or so (depending on your mileage) OR just wait till you have to go to reserve and fill up ASAP.

Re:FUEL SENDERS 1 Year ago
Thanks everyone, I will say in 50.000 mi the sender has been the only weak spot on my RS , can't say that about other bikes I've owned that rhyme with Carly . . I have two now to tear into and play with while a new one gets ordered . I just like everything on my bike to work right, or it drives me nuts. I am sending a strongly worded letter to Yamaha CS, hey ya never know they may send me a little sticker for my helmet. Rd

Re:FUEL SENDERS 1 Year ago
The ethanol in gas will eat away the contacts. I think some of this gas has more in it than is marked on the pumps and those that don't mark them who knows how much is really in there. I saw a bulletin from Marathon here in Ky that in march their gas somehow got more than 10% ethanol in it.Most of the central part of the state was affected.
