92 octane doesn't burn well in the Roadie. You probably have some carbon in there. Get some Seafoam, Ringfree, or MMO and run it in the gas for a few tanks and get the inside of the motor cleaned up and see if it helps.

Been There ... Heard That ... it's the nature of the Roadie beast! You can add V&H longshots, will help reduce the knocks up front ... but will add the the Roar in the rear Like pop said try a synthetic oil... it might help. Quieted mind down a little bit.

What oil and gas would you recommend?????

This bike is totaly stock. I like to run hard at times myself. I just bought the bike last weekend in Miami and rode it back to Jax. 75 & 80 mph all the way. Runs great and I love the bike.

Ping or pre-ignition happens only in Hi compression motors that use
regular gas...it is definitely not gas related...cause roadies are low compression motors...and hi octane gas does not cause pre ignition ..just the opposite...

I doubt if yer timing is off ...if she starts well..etc

The type of knock you are experiencing is normal and you are hearing the internal engine noises when the piston after the big explosion..hammers the connecting rods and main bearings

if the main bearings are gone ...you will know it...

I used Amsoil ... but that's a whole new can of worms for ya.... everyone has there own choice, that's the one I settled with. You can check out there site for some reading material. as for gas i used 89 oct ..... like others said .. stay away from the good stuff ....... your Roadie runs get on a lower grade! Good Luck !!

Thanks for the tip Ed. Great looking bike you've got. I've been running Amsoil in my Virago. This one is running on Yamalube.
