So you did 2 changes. The PMS before and the choke knob recently? If that's so we won't really know which helped. But I'm glad your plugs are looking better

Re:Choke cable 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Hey Musky, I finally got around to the MCF today. I ended up cutting 1/8 off the choke knob before I had a razor blades clearance.
My bike had been very cold natured & backfiring alot at times since I bought it. The dealer said it was because they had to lean it up to meet EPA guidelines, and it was normal.
I changed the exhaust, & the backfiring seemed to quit. I recently installed a MaxAir MaxFlo kit, and after jetting it's run better & not nearly as cold natured. Only problem is, It's been smelling a little rich when I'm warming it up, and couldn't seem to adjust for it. I know, I know, but even more than it should with the choke slightly out. I also smell it when I'm stopped at a traffic light.
Well, quess what? Today, after the initial start, I didn't smell it the rest of the day, little over a hundred miles. When I got home tonight I backed it up to the garage door & racked it off a couple times, half to full throttle. I was so happy I wanted the neighbors to appreciate it also, & still no gas smell.
Musky, my hats off to you! Who would have thought cutting 1/8" off the choke knob would matter that much?

BTW, mine is a 1700.
Not sure I stretched the cable, I was pretty careful.
May just be a manufacturing problem.

Alright Glad to see another bike doing better like mine did.I was begining to wonder if I was imagining things. I know mine's alot better. Like we said earlier, this wont help all but, for everybody like me that couldnt figure out what was going on...idleing a little rough,...little puff of smoke,... and the fumes, this just might do the trick. Thanks again guys.

All righty. Seems that there are no more reports to post so Gram will turn this into a tech tip now.

OK. I'll give it a shot.

If nothin else fixes it take a razor blade and hack away at the choke knob until somethin works.

Alrighty. Throw in a couple pics and that should do it.
