Yamaha (Corbin) Solo Seat 2 Years, 8 Months ago

Has anyone out there used a Corbin Solo Seat on their bike? Did you notice an increase in vibration? Did it soften up in time? How long?
Sorry for all the questions in this post - I've made a lot of changes and I'm trying to narrow down the little things and head off problems.
Thanks for the help

I don't have one but from what I understand the seat is quite firm
With time it will conform to your rear end and should be comfortable.

the yamaha custom solo seat from yamaha is made by corbin
I have one on order from Yamaha dealer as well
as the new comfort solo seat (long story here)
both new and im gonna sell which ever one I dont like
they say that if the foam is too soft as in the stock seat
the frame will come right thru to your Tail bone
firm is better and will form to your butt

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2006/05/14 08:02

I have resolved the vibration issue in the Yamaha Solo (corbin) seat. At the rear of the stock seat (where it slips under the hold-down tab) there are two rubber mounts. The corbin seat does not have these. I went to the local hardware and bought two rubber bottle stoppers. I trimmed off about 3/8 of an inch and using sheet metal screws attached them to the frame of the bike where the other (stock) mounts use to set (there is already holes there).
The vibration was reduced by about 90% and the seat has fallen into my "I love it" category.
It is firm - but I agree that firm is better. The seat is very comfortable as far as position goes. I have had it on several long rides (100 - 300) and have much less discomfort than I did with the stock one.

Just received the Yamaha custom solo seat Corbin . You sit in it and don't slide around on top like with the stock seat. Will look for vibration and you are right about the grommets. Soft to touch yet firm and well made. Waiting for the comfort cruise solo seat and then decide which to sell. Will update
There is no vibration that I noticed yet but the fit is very snug yet. Looks like my seat pan is too steep to sit down flat on any rear grommets

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2006/04/30 07:40

The seat is awesome! I like thet fact, as you said, that you don't slide around at all. But on mine I did feel all the bike under me. I put the stock seat back on for a test and that feeling went away. That's when I added the rubber stoppers.
It took about 10 minutes to add them (longer to find them) and it really worked.

Update: the comfort cruise seat was nice but no signs of being made by corbin??? and looked good
The custom solo was heavier slightly deeper seat pan and well constructed and came in a Corbin bag with corbin stickers
Both from Yamaha ..factory boxes different.... Corbin slightly bigger box
I liked the Custom solo seat best
I have on order the DUAL touring seat .....currently on back order
The wife wants grab rails.. a bigger passenger seating area than stock and taller back rest...
Sold both the solo seats on ebay ....hated to see them go
--so now I gone back to stock temporarily
Does any one know for sure who makes the comfort cruise solo seats for Yamaha I know Corbin makes the custom line and..... I hope the dual tourer is from Corbin
I think it is would appreciate feedback on this
I like the Corbin line because if its leather seating panels

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2006/05/14 09:19

How long/big of rubber bottle stoppers do I need for my new Corbin seat. I can't see into the seat to see the size/length that I need. Also what exactly is a bottle stopper? Where can I get some?
Blessings.

A friend of mine rides a Kawasaki 1500.He tells me alot of guys he rides with buy our stock R* seats because they are comfortable and they get them cheap when we discard them.Hmmmmmm recon its cause we almost soften them up before we get rid of them heheheheh. I guess what I am saying is there may be a few bucks to be salvaged for the old seat.....Coug
