Prety sure I ground mine off when I put my apes on and have never had a problem. And I twist it open hard a lot . . .

Are the wires ran inside the bars???

If NO then drill the hole.


If YES then grind it and use some duck tape around the bar to help hold the switch housing in place.

I ground the pin off.

You can get the switch housings tight enough where they won't rotate.

I kept mine on. Worked perfectly with my 16" Kong Bars.

Kept mine, took just as long to set my bars where I wanted them and drill the little hole as it would to file the nipple. It was worth the piece of mind. You can't move your bars enough that the controls aren't easily accessible.
