Re:Wheel Bearing removal 1 Year, 1 Month ago
I have replaced many wheel bearings, both street and dirt.I've not needed to do so on my Roadie yet, but the same principles should apply. Here's how. With the wheel resting on a couple of two by fours flat ,I use a round punch, go in through the top of the wheel (looking down at it ) down to the backside of the bottom bearing, give the punch a good whack, it knocks out the bearing(drops out of the wheel because the wheel is slightly off a flat surface, resting on the 2x4), then I pull the spacer out of the center, and remove the other bearing the same way.
You can reinstall new bearings by using a socket that is the same size as the outside edge of the bearing, and slowly but firmly drive the new bearing in, drop in the spacer, then repeat on the other side. Hope this helps. BB

If there are seals, you can "pick" them out with a screwdriver. All this advice is given based on the thought that you are replacing the old stuff with new parts, as that is a must as removing both the seals and the bearings damages them this way.
