Dont know about the oil...mines parked for the winter. I sure would if I was riding in 40 degree or so weather. (from a 20/50) And I want to do the plate and spring kit swap to mine also, and the feedback I've heard so far was great. I'm sure the guys that have done it will jump in here soon.

You'll get better performance with the Spring but keep the Yami plates. That's my opinion anywho.
I run 20/50 oil all the time. I figure If it's too cold for the oil it's too cold for me to ride.

Arcturus,

Yea, I run year round (when no salt on the roads), down to about 20-25deg. I only switch to 20/50 in mid-summer, and I'm commuting in 95*+ temps.

I did the Barnett conversion last winter. It hooks up VERY smoothly and predictably now--no matter what the temp or conditions. It's great.

It IS a bit harder to pull the lever now, but not too much. I just happened to have just completed an article series on engine work. There are two sections devoted to the Barnett conversion. You can get to the Tech Articles link from the first article shown on the Home page of this website. Or just click on this link:
http://roadstarclinic.com/content/category/13/200/104/

From there, you could look at the two segments about Tearing Down and Assembling the Engine's Left Side.

Hope this helps.

I am curious about the Barnett clutch spring kit, and have yet to install one. Was gong to try a Yami Speedstar spring using Yami clutch pack. Stock clutch makes me a bit nervous when it's down around freezing, feels a bit weak on the lever and makes me wonder if it's slipping at cold temps.
I'm not sure, but would the higher pressure Barnett spring enable the use of regular friction-modified oils that some guys like to use in their bikes?
I have been using 20w50 Mobil 1 V-Twin, and I have noticed that she cranks a little slower at freezing temps in the morning. Maybe this stuff is too heavy for this climate? Other than that, I sure am impressed with the Mobil1 20w50 V-Twin oil, I run each filling around 5,000 to 6,000km or so, and It barely gets brown colored before the change. And the engine sounds nice too.

Nope. Friction modifiers will still be a no no.
