When I run high rpm i get a clink and a clang all over useems like it's coming from under the gas tank. When I throttle down, high enough not to down shift but should probobly be in a lower gear but then the clanging starts and scares the #(#& out of me because it sounds like it's comeing from all over underneath. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey gab
Just to help you out. When you post a question in a thread you should go back and see if anyone has answered you. It might save you some headaches. People have been answering your question

It sounds like you are hitting the rev limiter to me.

Definetly not Rev limiter I've hit that many times before RPM level not close to that. It's like right where you would shift for a real smooth ride but you should definetly be able to run a lot higher. This might be a better discription of the sound You know the sounds your bike makes when you shut it off and you hear those ticking and clanging of it cooling down imagine that at 5 times the volume while you riding.

OK. Gotcha now. How many miles on your bike? What oil are you running? How much oil do you put in? How long between changes? Have you checked the transfer case level? There are 2 rollers behind the front pulley cover that can make a racket. Just things to think about. It's hard to tell whats wrong without seeing the bike. So it might be a process of elimination.

Sounds like you are lugging the engine. When I am in 5th and accelerate up an incline or go to pass without downshifting I will hear the same sound almost like a ball pien hammer hitting your heads. Just downshift and go Roadies love high rpm always keep those revs up unless you are just crus'n

00Running mobil v-twin 20-50 Syntheticd changed 2500 ago when your cruisin and slowly go faster (in the same gear) the noise starts and then gets louder as you increase speed. sahift and it goes away. 9000 miles on bike

That's different than what I thought you meant. You are probably cruising around one gear too high. So when you try to accelerate the motor is lugging. It's a real common problem with the Roadies. You don't equate a big ole cruiser with higer revs.
