does anybody here use gas with ethanol in it? I live in Iowa & it'sw sometimes a cfhore to find gas without ethanol. Also, i wasn't aware that low octane (87) was best in my R* (2005). Seems like i learn something new to me every time I log on. Thanks guys!

That's all I run because that's all I can buy.  I stay away from the cheapo gas and try to run mainly the good stuff (Texaco, Shell, etc.). I've actually found 7-11 no name gas (they dumped Citgo and have no brand name now) runs the best.
I've also noticed the mpg's in my Pathfinder have gone down 2-3 mpg's lately.  I have no idea what's up with that.

I run 10% corn all the time. That's all there is here for the most part. Mileage might drop farther this time of year because of winter gas too.

CLING CLANG DO NOT USE ETHENOL with the second tank I thought my bike was going to fall apart I switched back to shell Cling clang went away. I don't know how old you are but we actually had ethenol about 25 years ago and it ate up catilitic converters and also if i remamber some type of "o" ring in the engine. If you have a classic car could eventualy ruin fuel lines etc.

I just turned 56 - 3 days ago and, yes, I remember when "gasahol" first came out. It was a disaster! Only reason I asked is because the owners manual says you can run 10% ethanol. I never have, but I just wondered if anybody had.
Now back to the 87 octane - I guess I was under the impression that no matter what the compression ratio of an engine is, it's better to run the highest octane you can find. Am I wrong here too?

There are different ways of putting it and some are more technically correct than others but - premium won't burn completely in our motors. You end up creating carbon. You might also cause knocking and other weird noises. The motor was built to run on good old regular gas. Around 86 / 87 octane. So save the extra money for more chrome.  This is for a motor with stock innards and compression.

We have eyes everywhere 
Three ways. 1. There is no dotted line between the text in your posts and the pic. 2. When I quoted you your pic code was in the quote. 3. If you look at the list of posts beneath the reply window your pic is in your posts. None of those things happen when you have a sig pic set up.
