Also WAAAAAAAY stupid question, but do I have to turn the cock to reserve, to fill the reserve section of the tank, or does it all just fill regardless of position

Just remember to turn the petcock back to "on" if you happen to go into reserve...if you leave it on reserve, next time you run out of fuel you will become fully familiar with the "Oh Shit" Factor That will be followed by the "I really thought I was getting great mileage" factor

I read on the tech tips about there being a defective rollover valve possibly causing a collapsed tank that can be easily accessed while performing this mod, does this affect my 05 roadstar? The way it's worded in the tech tips makes it sound like it only affects "older" models

Don't know but I doubt that Yamaha would have changed the design. The location is different depending on whether it's a Cal model but just follow the vent host until you see a 'filter'.

Normally it's on the vertical member under the seat.

What I had meant is that is this component still prone to failure on an '05, where the article makes it look like it's only an issue on older vehicles.

Some of the articles have beards so that's why they don't reference the new models.

I don't know how prevalent tank implosion is on the newer models but I can't see Yamaha modifying the rollover valve.

Make a post on Delphi and see what response you get.

Go to the tech tips and scroll down to AIS.
