Thanks for the info.
I just bought my road star about 6 weeks ago.
It is a 1999 with 13000 miles on it.
It has some engine noise, that the reason for the oil pressure question.

Did you come from a water cooled bike perhaps? These motors talk a lot. They let you to know they're running. If you haven't yet, going to a good synthetic will help quiet it down some. But she will still talk alot. There is a tranny recall on your bike and it's very important to be sure it's been done. If you're not positive give a dealer or Yamaha customer service your VIN and they can tell you if it's been done.

Hey Musky,
Thanks for the mention of the recall.
I got that done about a week after I got it.
My buddy has got an 02 Midnight and he says my factory pipes are just too quite
(lol)and I hear the engine noise more.
I really dont mind alittle noise as long as I know everything is ok.

Several of us newbies here, SPEED7. I think we've all been through the "is this noise OK" thing. You've found the right place to ask though. These guys really know there way around the Road*.

Yeah, what the others said about the noise. If it makes you feel any better I pretty much asked the same things when I first got on here.

My pipes are quiet too, so engine "clatter" is not hard to hear. The synthetic oil will reduce it some, but not down to what you might expect from a water cooled bike.

You'll find lots of good info. here from folks way more experienced than me. Welcome and enjoy!

Hey Guys,

I am new to forums.
I not even sure I am at the right place.
Is this where I ask Questions?

Welcome Speed, good to have ya here. As for the noise, yup, they're noisy beasts. I thought mine was noisy with just the windshield, then I added lowers and she really made weird noises. Then I went to a 3/4 helmet from a half helmet for winter, once again more weird noises. You'll get used to it.
