Cobra 2 into 1 Baffle removal 4 Years, 4 Months ago

I would like to remove my baffle to add some packing as ther is NONE. I would expect to see some but none there no wonder it is so loud. Problem is I removed the 2 bolts that hold it in but cannot move the baffle. I tugged on it pretty hard but no movement. Do I have to use a slide hammer some how? Please suggest alternate methods.

Spray some lubricant between the baffle and the can. If you don't have a slide hammer, bend the tip of a nail 90 degrees, insert it into one of the baffle holes and start tugging.
Before wrapping the baffle material around the baffle, wrap the baffle with a couple of turns of metal door screening then wrap the baffle (each layer will provide a quieter muffler) and finish off with a turn of the screening. The screening keeps the baffle wrap in place longer. All of this can be kept in place with wire.
Helps if you have more than two hands.

Doc i'll give that a go but I can't help but wonder if the packing will clog up and leave me stranded somewhere. Is that likely to happen? Also what will the packing do to the performance?

Helmut, the way Doc is describing to set your baffle up is not too different than how V/H does the propipe baffle. You should not have any issues with the way Doc told you, for your peace of mind. BB

finally got the baffle out. Problem is that there is about a 2" wide band of packing on it near the end and that is all that can be put on. The rest of the baffle is covered with a steel cone that is welded in place. I cannot understand what effect the packing would have wear it is. Can someone expain this to me please. If I can't solve this roar at high speed the wife won't ride with me anymore(no jokes please) I actually enjoy having her along.

Sounds Exactly how the propipe baffle is built. The packing is at the end of the baffle (about 2 inches worth), and there is about a 5 inch long steel cone area that is drilled around the perimeter. I've been told you can wrap that area with packing using the screen to prevent blow out of the packing to quite things down. Mine does not make nearly the noise level you are complaining of. Are you sure it doesn't just need fresh packing? Just a thought, as mine makes herself known when it's time to repack. BB
