new noise 4 Years, 4 Months ago
I have a new noise, sounds like "woooooooooo" between 30-40 mph. I have new tire's, and have just replaced the front drive pulley (had installed a 30 tooth 20,000 miles ago) due to wear, with the original steel pulley. I rode the bike about 100 miles with the new tire's but didn't notice the noise. After replacing the pulley is when the noise was really notice. I think the noise has alway's been there but at a low level and only when decelerating. Now it is while accelerating and decel. I thought at first it was maybe the brakes makeing the noise, but not so.

Thank's for any help.

Sundance

Let's see. With a 30 tooth pulley your pullin' 30-40 mph in around 2 seconds. Are ya sure that "wooooooo" sound isn't coming from you trying to hang on for dear life?

Oh, sundance!

Tom

*Oops. I'd misread your original post. Sorry sundance. Gotta lay off that root beer.

I replaced the 30 tooth with the original, the aluminum one wore out after about 20,000 miles. Wore down the teeth and had razor sharp edges against the belt.I'm doing more down shifting with the original, lot of hill's and curve's in NC.
