Rear turn signals - Tail light question 6 Years ago
I saw a Roadstar the other night and noticed that the rear turn signals were "On" all the time along with the tail light. At night it really helped with visibility of the bike and I thought it looked cool. When he signaled the tail lights worked and went from dim to bright for the signal (just like a car at night).

Does anyone know how to do that? Is it just a re-wiring job and how dificult is it to do, or is there some kind of wiring kit available. I've not been able to find anything.

Kuryakyn makes a couple different kits. The first link is something I think alot of people use. I ordered the second one because it is supposed to just plug in to the wiring harness under the seat. Right now they're out of stock (of course) but once I get it I'll let you know how (if) it works. I didn't see the plug and play on their website but it is in their 2006 metric catalog. Part # 4612. It says it fits "All 99 - 03 RoadStar 1600, All 04 - 06 RoadStar 1700, All V-Star 1100 & 650."

Yeah, please let me know if its that easy.

Harley has a "plug and play" adapter that plugs under the seat. Very easy, but I couldnt find anything for Metric. I'll check out your attachments and please let me know if it works.

Musky,
Ur the man. That's exactly what I was looking for. This is a great site. I have a buddy who has a Honda VTX 1300 who's been looking for the same thing. We drove to several shops today looking for something like this and no one could find anything for our bikes, and here they are. Incredible!

Let me know when they're stocked up and you get yours in. Thanks again!

I think the "Plug and Play" unit - 4612 - may be a newer product. I've had one on order from Phat Performance for several weeks now. They told me to expect it some time in mid summer! Don't forget -- you also need to change the amber lights in the turn signals to red ones. Phat also has them for 4 to 5 dollars apiece.

There's also a couple of articles in the Tech Tips section.

Here's one ..... http://roadstarclinic.com/content/view/17/103/

It is new. In the catalog it says "NEW" and "patent pending".

I sent Kuryakyn an email this morning asking if they even have this part. They said they don't but they are expacting them in "late next week". So if anyone wants one it might be a good idea to order it and get on the first come, first served list.

Post edited by: Musky, at: 2006/05/19 09:26

I think I saw some blue dots that you can add to your lenses somewhere. Chris blue dots I think is what they were called. You can probably google it. Unless it's changed I think blue dots are illeagle almost everywhere except on some vintage cars. Could be wrong on that though.

I found these blue dots for customizing the turn signals, if anyone is interested.

I'm still having trouble locating some RED turn lenses. All I can find is amber. Can anyone direct me to a link?
