New Pipes new carb, just acouple of Questions 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Just had a set of dooleys from Road house and a thunder Mfg. K&N tear drop set up
installed.Dealer had a hard Time getting the left side pipe right.(did it myself
when I got it home. When warmed up proper idles good(still have to Choke on start up),power seems a little higher up the RPM curve(slight hesitation right before it hits) and it don`t sputter when it gets toward a hundred. But my gas milage has gone through the roof, even with me and the wife onboard getting 43 to 45 mpg.And
like fifty with just me.Know this sound great I just want to make sure I`m not running to lean and hurting the engine. What do ya`ll think?? Drying to find out
what the settings are from the Dealer. I forgot pipes sound great!!!!!!!

Post edited by: vegasdave, at: 2006/05/20 19:41

No dog, had a dealer do it.Wasn`t crazy about a couple of things that went on
with the project.Have bought a DynoJet stage 1&@ kit for my 06 and if I do have to
make any changes plan on doing them myself.Should have in the first place.
Have printed al the info on the carb section. This Place is great,I`m a good
maintenance man,just not A mechanic.

Sounds good to me.

Ride it for a while. Rub your finger inside your pipes and check the plugs in a week or so. Should give you an indication on how lean you think you are.

Did a short ride yesterday with the wife(Valley of fire by lake mead).152 miles.
Checked plugs light grey and alittle brown.Found one carb heater leader loose
fixed that.Bike idles good, little pause between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle then good
ran it up to 102 then just stopped going any faster. No spudder or drop off
just stopped going up anymore?? Filled up averaged 45.5?
Still haven`t manged to load a picture here but if you want to see my BIKE

Vegasdave, if you run your finger on the inside end of your pipes, you'll get the black soot if you're rich or gray if you're jetted right.
