CoachDan,
Thanks. I didn't come up with anything on my first search, so that was a big help. The non-studded in the pic don't look like a good fit, but it's a small picture...the studded look pricey for my cheap @ss. Ha.

Greysnake,
No luck on the website for the hardware yet, but it might be worth a call.

If you can't find chrome U bolts I'm sure galvanized would hold up. They aren't in a super visible spot. Or get some and paint em black. Contact Chilhowee about the engine guard chaps. Another option anywho.

Sorry to just get back to you Earl, but after reading the thread I'll assume you don't need the big bar instructions afterall. Too bad they aren't the real deal, the big bars are excellent quality.

If you still want the directions I can zip em to ya, getting ready for an eye docs appointment and will be back all dilated later on. I wonder how the neato shades they give ya would look ridin the Road*?

I'd be really careful about substituting hardware to mount the bar to your bike. Remember, the main purpose of the bar is to protect the bike and rider in a mishap. Using substitute hardware may limit the protection the bar provides when compared with using stock hardware.

Hey Earl, just caught up with the post, you guys were up late. . in any case, a marine store should have the u-bolts you need, they will be made of polished stainless so they won't rust, and will match up with the chrome. just measure the distance from center to center on the two holes to get the right size. the boating industry uses them alot for hanging things on the rails and such... good luck

I'll have to agree with Musky on the Chilhowiee Engine Guard Chaps. My son bought me a pair for my Roadie and they look real sharp on the bike.

Now my son keeps threatening to steal them off my bike and put them on his.....

You guys rock!

RoadieFF, thanks for the offer, but it looks like you're off the hook on scanning the instructions.

Re:Yamaha Big Bar Mounting 1 Year ago
OK, Might be time for me to embarrass myself, but it's something I do well, so here goes....

In the pic that was posted (attached) it seems the top of the bar rests on a shelf of some sort(at the arrow) and the mounting bolts pass through this shelf and into the threaded area in the bars (inside the square section with the Yammy Star)

My '04 doesn't have this shelf. Is there an alternative method to mount these on the '04 or is there a different model bar that needs to be purchased.

I'm asking because I'm watching a seller on ebay who has this same bar for sale. If it won't fit no need for me to buy it.

Thanks,

M7

Re:Yamaha Big Bar Mounting 1 Year ago
Hey Mark

There isn't a shelf. What you are seeing is the V bracket that is bolted to the bar. If you look on your frame you will see a V shaped brace between the down tubes. The V shaped bracket on the bars slides up under that V shaped brace. So you have one V sitting inside another V. Hope that makes sense.
