Hey SobaCracka,

Know you’re looking at the Yam Big Bar, but just want to show you the one I bought a few years back.

I went for the Cobra Freeway Bars. Great beefy look. They’re made from 1¼” steel tubing, the installation was especially made easy with the provided stainless steel machined clamps. They fit very sturdily on the frame tubes. Great quality chrome and weld, nothing ever rusted. They sell for under $185 on the net.

Hope this will help.

Makes sense now. The bar that is selling used doesn't have the bracket as part of the sale that's why I assumed they just bolted directly to some sort of attachment point.

Thanks for the clarification.

I'm debating between the cobra and Yamaha big bars myself. I actually really like the Lindby bar but i dont want to drill the frame.

RoadGrabber,

Yep, looked at those, too. I actually now own an MC Enterprises 1000-35 bar because I thought I'd bought the Yami Big Bar, or rather, the guy selling it thought it was a Yami Big Bar, and I didn't check it our more thoroughly. It's in great shape, just have to get it mounted. Worse comes to worse, I can put it on for now and see how I like it, and if I don't, I can get great prices on new Cobra or Yamaha guards through eBay motors.

I do like that clamp setup on yours. Very nice!

SobaCracka,

Thought I’d throw that at you (Cobra Freeway Bar) cause you’ve mention earlier you might take the seller‘s offer for a full refund.

The best way to top mount your MC 1000-35 bar will probably be with U-clamps, you should be able to find some quite easily in a hardware store or in a muffler shop.

I have the Cobra big bars, and love them. They held up fine with a 50MPH get off. The only thing that happened is the got significantly scraped up, but they saved my legs, and the rest of the bike. By the way they look great with the motorguard chaps from Hellriser Customs.

Yessirree RG,

Picked up the clamps yesterday and some cap nuts. Will likely put her on this Sunday. Working the International Motorcycle Show in DC tomorrow with the Star Touring Group.

After the bar's on, I'll start doing something about this drooling for Chilhowee engine guard chaps that Musky and MikelJay pointed me toward. They DO look nice but are pricey.

Saw many of those Lindby in Quebec particularly on Harley’s, they look swell but ain’t too crazy about the drilling a hole in the frame part for the top mount.

Boomer: Glad your Cobra Bar took the hit instead of your legs! Even if we all know they’re not designed to withstand a major impact in a crash scenario, it’s nice to know they can offer a basic protection.

Ride safe.
