Strait Pipe Exhaust 12 Months ago
|
|
|
I'm new to the site, so forgive me if this question has been asked before. I have a 07 Roadstar and am intrested in getting the Convicted Exhaust from BMS Choppers. It's pretty much a strait pipe exhaust with no baffels. However, the salesman told me it does have "torque cones" near the head. In addition to the exhaust I'm planning on installing the Pro-R Hypercharger air intake.
My question is, does anyone here have this set up (or anything similar) and will I have any problems tuning (jetting) the bike right. Also, the pipes are pretty short, is there any issues I need to keep in mind with that.
Thanks for any info

I don't have that set up but you can get it jetted right. Just be ready to go in there more than once and do multiple tweaks. But that's no different than jetting for any other pipes / air kit. I'm guessing those pipes are going to be real loud. That might be an issue with neighbors or the law where you live. Just something to think about.

I had a hypercharger before I got BAK and it is tough to get the jetting right. They look cool but don't do any better job than any other after market air cleaner. And an air cleaner is all it really is not ram air. I like the BAK better and my leg doesn't hit the BAK like it did the hypercharger. BTW

Torque cones will help get back some low end for those straight pipes if properly sized for the pipe.

Thanks for the advise guys, and the warm welcome.
Musky - yeah I figure the pipe will piss the neighbors off. But they look so darn cool. I'll try my best to just idle through the neighborhood to my house.
Curt - I thought about going with the BAK but I don't think there will be enough clearence at the bottom. The BMS pipe crosses over the engine right there.
Curt - What kind of issuses were you having when trying to jet the bike with the hypercharger on it?
I attached a picture of the pipes. (At least I tried to)

Well the dealership tried to get it right 5 times and I tried twice before buying the BAK. It ended up I got a bad case of SVS and had one hell of a tme getting rid of it after I got the BAK. I have finally got it dialed in this last dyno run the guy said I couldn't get it any better. Just ask Musky I am known as the guy with a carb with zippers. They raz me about my carb all the time. I even have a second one just in case.

Cool pipes, and I have seen several of the bikes that Sam at BMS has built. Loud is not the word!!! You will need hearing protection and anyone riding with you will need hearing protection. They will attract legal attention and generally upset anyone within a hundred feet. These pipes are really for custom show bikes and look great, but in MHO will be annoying for a daily rider. I don't mean to come down on you but too loud only makes for problems for all bikers.
Welcome to the clinic.
