Gas Tank Logo - (How to remove?) 12 Months ago
Hello, all. I'm new to this forum, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I ride a 2001 Midnight Roadstar. Been riding 21 years (mostly sport bikes), but prefer the look, feel and style of a classic cruiser. Just bought this one used and love the Roadstar model.

My question is, "How can I remove the Roadstar logo plates from the gas tank without messing up the paint?" Can this be done? I would like to have a clean appearance to that midnight black and chrome look.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

-David

Welcome to the clinic. I used GOOF OFF from home depot along with a heat gun and fishing line. A Halogen work light will also work instead of the heat gun. Use only as little heat as will make the adheasive stickey. It still takes a little to pull the line behind the emblem but go slow and it will come off without damage to the tank or emblem. The adhesive will come off the tank with elbow grease and goof off in that order.
Good luck and welcome again Dearman

I wonder if Dental floss would work better than fishing line? Well, I guess that would depend on what type of fishing line you used huh?

cp_dave. Dental floss will work also but fishing line is best.
WD-40 will also take the glue off.

Another Midnight Star yes you'll love it. All the above mentioned methods work well and the bike looks great with all the emblems off. Welcome to the clinic cp.

Hey cp dave,
I used the dental floss and goof off to remove the logos from my bike. Worked perfect, just took a while because like you, I didn't want to scratch up the tank. I didn't use any heat during the process. Enjoy your roadie!!!

Just going to add a blow dryer and some dental floss.
Heat it up and it will slide right off. Just my two cents.
