AIS + aftermarket pipes is not a good combo.
If you disable or remove the AIS you'll find the majority of the 'popping' will disappear.

Thanks Pop Rivet & Doc
I was just reading through some threads on this ( AIS)and checked it out in the tech tips. Again since the people who were posting have done the air and jets I didn't think it applied. I should just do the air and jets too so I don't get foole by this anymore. Well, I've beat this to death. Time to shut up and fix it or take it in to the shop. Thanks everyone.

One more time for everyone .....
Normally (but then what is normal )
- AIS can be removed anytime. Best to remove if you've put on aftermarket pipes or done Stage 3.
- Stage 1-3 - don't need to re-jet. Stage 3 may have to adust PMS
- New pipes - don't need to re-jet, may have to adjust PMS
- New air-box - need to re-jet
- New pipes and air-box - need to re-jet
With new pipes and air-box you'll find the bike will 'wake-up'.
Gram is much more long-winded than I ..... but then he's also more experienced that I.

AIS has nothing to do with jets and air intake... it is fresh air pumped into the exhaust ports to burn excess emmisions ..an afterburning which is a diliberate
backfiring which starts once exhaust reaches hi temps made worse by aftermarket exhaust That why I said I removed AIS and had no trouble

Now that I know what pipes you have, can I ask what the $$ was?

I guess I'm the other lucky guy. Put Vance & Hines longshots and didn't touch a thing. Runs like a roaring lion!
