Removal of the front Hub/Rotor covers 11 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I am having my brake rotors polished on my 2006 Roady and I would like to remove the domed covers that are located in the center of the front brake rotors, The right side has a weight in it and I have no idea what it is purpose is. I have seen other Road Stars that have had these covers removed. Any help or comments are appreciated.

That weight is some kinda frequency quieter downer thingy. It's nothing you need on the bike if you take the pie plates off.

That's funny, I have the stock mag wheels on mine that have no rotor cover and have ordered some off e-bay to hopefully cover up the big black area of the center of the wheel. I don't believe they serve any purpose exept for looks, I did notice one has the wheight on one side and the other does not, but you should not have any problems riding with them removed.

that weight is needed!

i took mine off and......

it sounded like a bloody bus slowing down! hideous squealing noises.

chamfered the pads - still noisy

coppaslip on the backs of the pads - still noisy

gaffer tape on the back of the pads - still noisy

changed the pads - still noisy

changed the calipers for blue spot r1 calipers - still noisy

repeat all the stuff above again with the pads - still noisy

but i finally solved the problem - i put the pie dishes back on again
