Your right MY-STAR-1,

The 175 is smaller than the 182.5 . Why did you change the main? Did you replace your needle or are you using the factory needle?

With aftermarket needle, 175 would be a lot better (aftermarket needles are a lot thinner and flow a lot more fuel). The needle was not really changed going 03 and earlier to 04 and later. Its not really small enough for the 1700's fuel needs, so Yamaha compensated by putting in a lot larger main jet.

So... 03 and earlier have to install larger jets when they replace the needles with good airkit and exhaust, 04 and later have to go down in size.

If your using the stock needle, put the 182.5 back in. Aftermarket needle, keep the 175.

OK back to the mileage issue turned my PMS SCREW IN 1/2 turn for a total of2 1/2 total turns out with no significant increase so my next step will be to remove carb again set needle to 3rd notch and turn pms screw back to 3 turns out and will report on my MPG after several tanks. iot has been several tanks since i made 1/2 turn adjust
