oh, and about greenhouse gases...they say that the carbon emmissions from all our vehicles is further increasing the "greenhouse effect." well, water vapor is the most abundant greenhouse gas in our atmoshere!! guess we gotta get rid of that darn evil water too!!

I agree. Found this to be enlightening: The SUN

Lets stop and think about all the trees and other green spaces that will have to be destroyed to grown the corn to save our atmosphere. Is it just me or is there something wrong with this plan?

I just heard today that Wheat futures are at an all time high and rising with not enough being grown to satiate global demand. Just another example of problems with growing too much corn. It is the law of unintended consequences.

I was just at my favorite powersports repair shop (not the dealer) and the owner showed me about 50 pistons from snowmobiles that had holes in the tops, or deep scores in the sides (or both) from this fuel. These are from machines that he has worked on in the past week. What's that going to do to our Roadies? Do we need to re-jet for this crummy gas? I really don't understand where the advantage is by forcing us to use this fuel. If the fuel mileage goes down by 10-15%, we are all just going to burn more fuel, right? Am I missing something? How does this help the environment? The way I look at it, it's worse on the environment than standard fuel. A first grader could figure that out. Right??

Hey Fatrat

It's a scam. The major drum beat is our dependence on foreign oil. So they push this pathetic BS through to make people think they are doing something. The problem is that very few people think it's a good idea. But maybe that could give us a little hope that they will drop this stupidity and do something for real.

Hey Musky,

Your "opinion" just happens to be fact, in my opinion.

Fom the Yamaha Australia website......

ETHANOL BLENDED FUELS

Q. Are Yamaha Motorcycles, ATV's and SSV's designed to operate on Ethanol Blended Fuels.

No. All current and previous models are NOT designed for Ethanol Blended Fuels at any percentage. (ie. E5 5% and E10 10%).

If Ethanol Blended Fuels are used you may experience driveability and running problems, fuel component deterioration and damage due to moisture.

1. Will my early model Yamaha motorcycle run okay on standard unleaded petrol (91 ~ 93 ron)?

Yes! All Yamaha models, from the early 1970's have been designed to operate on lead free petrol in the octane range of standard unleaded.(91-93 ron).

2. Will I cause any damage to my motorcycle if premium unleaded or high-energy fuels are used?

No. However, if you encounter any running problems as a result of using such fuels, change back to standard unleaded (91-93 ron).

I have run my R* on all types of fuel including E10. The bike seems to run great no matter what I put in the tank. If anything MPG has improved slightly with E10 PULP (98 octane), my preferred brew.
Motorcycle dealers in Australia tend to recommend not using ULP as it has a reputation of being crap. Most riders I know use PULP (premium).

No more E10 for my R* even though it seems to like it and it's cheaper

Hey Numb Nuts
If your E10 PULP is 98 octane, what octane is your ULP, and PULP?

ULP is usually 91 octane or 93 with ethanol added.

PULP is usually 95 octane or 98 with ethanol added.

Ethanol blended fuels are sold at 4c per/litre cheaper at united outlets.
