Headlight visors (Musky( 2 Years, 7 Months ago
First post! Been reading for awhile and figured it's about time to start writing!

Hi'ya Musky....I've got the exact same bike as you. Just read a post regarding your visors. Were you able to get the visors on the running lights snug? I never could get the housing all the back in place and now have a glint of light coming through at night. Not a problem....just bugs me the perfectionist in me!

How did yours turn out?

BTW - They are Cobra visors. Probably the same concept as other brands though.

Thanks bud....greeny

Hey Greeny and welcome

Yep, The best looking Road Stars out there. I got the Star visors. They fit perfect. No gaps at all. They even have the Star on them. Got the headlight, passing lamps, and turn signals, front and back. I've found (and this is just my opinion) that you're better off getting visors from whoever makes the lights. Here's a link.

Yeah...go figure. I looked at the star visors in a local Yamaha dealer and they were wanting 65 bucks for just the headlight visor. That's why I went with the Cobras which were a third of the price. I couldn't see paying an extra 40 for the emblem. Makes me wonder if Yamaha has any control over local dealers and their pricing.

I might try tearing them apart again and see if I can get a better seal. As you said though, a third hand would definitely come in handy.

Were your passing lights lined up properly when you got your bike? Mine are both pointing a little inwards. Not sure if that's the proper way to align them or what.

One last question (off topic)....what kind of mileage are you getting on a brand new bike? I'm only averaging around 35mpg and wasn't sure if it's running too rich or what.

Thanks for the reply.....greeny

Re: Re:Headlight visors (Musky( 2 Years, 7 Months ago
The passing lamps were lined up so the left one was pointing in a little and the right was pretty much straight ahead. My mileage sucked when I first got the bike. 27mpg. As soon as I took the stock pipes off and put on the cobras it went up to the mid 40s. That tells me it was set too rich right from the factory. Might tell someone else something different but that was the only thing I changed and it made a 13 mpg difference. If I can make a suggestion, I would take the Cobra visors off and order the stars. They are made for those lights and they fit alot better.

Yeah....one size fits all isn't necessarily always the case, I guess. I plan on drilling out my pipes with Stage 1 soon and hopefully that'll open the pipes up enough to increase my mpg.

Take it easy....greeny
