Fender tips 11 Months ago

I picked up a set of the Chrome Fender tips today, anyone seal the holes in the fender after they drilled them to help prevent rust? I have some touch up paint and thought about using it when I put them on this week end.

I was going to but I didn't have any paint so I just put a big ol glob of wheel bearing grease under there.

I drilled the holes during the day, then used an artist's paint brush and touched up the holes with black primer with rust inhibitor, then let it dry during the day as per instructions. Then later that night I covered the touch out paint with regular color matched touch up paint for my bike. I also let it dry and finsihed the job installing all 3 chrome tips first thing the next morning.
I know it's overkill, but doing things that way helps me to sleep at night.

I drilled mine this morning and then touched them up. I let it dry until this afternoon. I just finished putting them on and rode to the dealer to show off the accessories he has been selling me but had not seen yet. The Cobra Fatty bar, Pipes, lower bags and now the fender tips. He liked the looks for the lowered bags. He pulled a plug for me and noted he thought the bike was runnning a touch lean, but then again its only 30 degrees out. Said I should let him check it again when it warms up. I didnt rejet when I put the V&H propipes on.

Clear silicon caulk in the holes, push the screw thru. Holds the nut and seals against rust.
