Grips.... 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago
My friend gave me a set of killer grips. My question....these grips are for 1" bars...slid the one grip on the clutch side.Perfect. Now ....on the throttle side.....is there a sleeve that the grip must pass over (like a honda) or will the 1" grip slide up with no trouble. Just wanted to know before taking the throttle side apart.

Thanks, Dan

Is the right side grip larger in diameter than the left side? If so then there should be a sleeve for it. Check inside the right side and see if the sleeve is glued in it already.

No...there is not a sleeve they are both the same inside Diameter. I take it then that the Roadstar has a plastic sleeve on the throttle side. Correct? On a honda when you remove the grip their is a plastic sleeve the new grip would have to slide over. The R is the same?

No the Kuryakyn grips come with a sleeve but the stock grips don't have one.

All motorcycle right hand grips need a plastic sleeve. That is what allows it to twist for throttle operation; and the end of the sleeve sticks into the switch housing, and has the cables attached to it out of sight.

Some grips come with a plastic sleeve some don't. When they don't, you are expected to remove the old grip from the sleeve and reuse it.

The inside diameter of the left grip is the right size to go directly onto the handlebar. The right one is larger to fit onto the sleeve which in turn fits the handlebar loosly so that it will twist.
